Brandon Best
To this extent Brandon’s work seeks to portray Barbados as more than an island of sun, sea and sand. His work instinctively highlights his perceptions as a millennial living in the Caribbean with experience in the tourism industry.
Brandon is motivated by a fear of “not amounting to anything”, therefore, he takes his work very seriously and is personally connected to what he does.
Significant to note is Brandon’s repeated desire to develop the cultural identity in Barbados, this desire forms the basis of his professional motivation. In addition, Brandon does not only consider himself, but seeks to gain knowledge to inspire, educate and motivate young people “to proudly produce works of all kinds of mediums, and be a contributor to our future National Art Gallery”.
For Brandon, his choice of colours are usually influenced by some of his favourite music which transcribes into the mood of the painting and usually guides the “subject matter”.
