Shanta Prince, the Barbadian beauty with an ever present smile; her unique style of sound, elevates her into a category all of its own.
Shanta initially started career as a backing vocalist in Bacchanal Time Calypso Tent and artists such as Rupee and Biggie Irie. She then stepped into the limelight with two releases “Island Girl” and “Blind to See” and has never looked back. Her music journey has seen her collaborating with artists such as Jamaican dancehall star Macka Diamond, Barbados’ very own Lil Rick and Peter Ram. She has worked with a few of the best producers Soca has to offer including Barbados’ Dwain “Dwaingerous” Antrobus (BassInk Productions), Trinidad’s Kurtis Wells better known as London Future and Canada’s James DePinho (Beta One Music).
Shanta has become a staple of the Crop Over season in Barbados performing at many of the major events. Her release “Stush” not only earned her a place in the Semi Finals of the Sweet Soca competition but also the Barbados Music Awards Female Breakthrough artist. The interest Shanta continues to generate cements the view that her sound is one to be heard and the journey for her has just begun.
